Can I share my images online?

Accepted Answer

You will be provided with images to post online if you choose to purchase digital image files. Please tag Missy Timko Photography as the location, or add a link to www.missytimko.com in the caption whenever posting images online. You are encouraged to tag yourself and share images that I post to Facebook or to my Website.

Please...do NOT use the "screen capture" function on your computer or smartphone to capture images from my Website or other marketing materials.

Question 2

Do I need to arrange for professional hair and makeup for my photography session?

Accepted Answer

We highly encourage you to have your hair & makeup done professionally for all session types. We can assist you in arranging these services when you book a custom session with us.

You will love your photos so much more if your hair and makeup look amazing! Please ask about our partnerships with local hair and makeup artists that will come directly to our studio and use the uniquely designed hair & makeup space for your session styling.

Shooting in your home? We can arrange for your styling team to come to you! If you have a relationship with a hair and makeup stylist and prefer to work with them, give them a call well in advance for tips and recommendations.

Please keep in mind that the best hair & makeup artist availability is on any day but Saturday--many of our stylists are working on weddings every Saturday. Consider booking your shoot for a weekday for best availability of professional hair & makeup artists.

Question 3

Does a copyright apply to images from Missy Timko Photography?

Accepted Answer

Missy Timko Photography's images are protected by Federal Copyright Law. Images may not be scanned, reproduced, cropped, or modified without written permission of the photographer. Your photographs are original artwork, and the photographer is the only one who may crop or modify any image produced as a result of this session, with the exception of cropping purchased digital images for the purpose of creating different-sized prints. All digital file packages come with a print release; you may create unlimited prints for non-commercial usage.

What can I expect to spend on my portrait session?

Accepted Answer

Portrait session spending varies widely, but you can see general information about spending ranges for different types of sessions here.

On average, most of our portrait clients spend between $1500-5000 on a custom photo session experience. This type of experience includes free hair & makeup, wall art install, and other luxury services at no additional charge.

We have a couple of smaller session options, including basic headshots (starting at $325) and baby milestones (starting at $800).

What do I wear to my headshot session?

Always wear clothes that match your style and personality. Color is great for tops, but keep in mind that bright colors tend to draw attention away from your face, so consider choosing something neutral that complements your eye color and skin tone. Be sure that your clothes are clean and neatly pressed. This is especially true for collared shirts and suits. Have them looking sharp, as the camera picks up a lot of detail. If you are doing a headshot, your lower half won't make it into the final pictures. But don't neglect wearing pants or a skirt that will make you feel confident for your appointment. Make sure to dress comfortably, but in attire that is appropriate for your line of work. Confidence and comfort help you achieve your best image. Stay away from clothes are are too tight or uncomfortable. Don't underestimate being well-rested, and be sure to drink plenty of water in the days before your shoot.

What if Missy needs to cancel your photo session?

Accepted Answer

Very rarely, Missy will need to cancel a photography session due to fire or other casualty, strike, act of God, another cause beyond the control of the parties, photographer's illness, or family emergency. If this occurs, Missy will make every effort to find a suitable replacement. If no qualified replacement is available, the client has the option of rescheduling the session without penalty or to receive a refund. If the session is part of a package, the client will be refunded a pro-rated amount for the cancelled session.

What is a custom session?

A custom session is a full length photography session with me, and 90% of my shoots are custom session. Since they are custom, every session is totally different and designed just for you! We will work together to choose a location (studio, home, or outside), clothing, styling, activities, posed and/or more candid portraits, etc. Custom sessions are usually one family (Mom, Dad and kids), but it may include grandparents or pets. This may be a family session that is mostly focused on Mom during her pregnancy, it may focus on a group of siblings, or it may be a newborn baby with Mom, Dad and siblings. There are all different types of families, and I have many ideas and lots of experience with most situations! We will spend around 1-2 hours capturing your portraits, and you will have 30+ gorgeous images to choose from. Custom sessions include complementary hair, makeup, and wardrobe styling.

What is the pricing for a portrait session?

We serve a range of clients with different needs and budgets. Some want a smaller experience with a curated selection of image files and prints, and some want to be pampered with a full-length photo shoot experience, hair, makeup, and wardrobe styling, and custom portrait design & install.

The following will serve as a general guideline of what people spend when they work with me, though some clients spend outside of these ranges:

Custom Newborn & Family Session spending range is typically $1500-5000+.

Little Session (baby, child, milestone, maternity, headshot) spending range is typically $375-2000.

Once we get to know your needs and expectations, we will design a custom shoot just for you! As long as you are comfortable with the price ranges listed above, we can come up with something that works for you.
